Fleet Hospital and Community Friends

Charity No: 1169526

History

The League of Friends was formed in 1972.  The local residents took the initiative to form a committee that could

provide additional equipment and physical support for the local health services.

Aim of the  Friends

The primary aim of the Friends is to improve the care and comforts of the patients, above those which are funded and provided by the N.H.S.  The Friends also increase the profile of Fleet Hospital through their membership and connections with local groups and business.

To provide a conduit between the NHS and the local residents.  Thus feeding back the views on proposed
changes in services

To monitor services

To use donations in a sensible and efficient way, that responds to the needs of the patents.

Provide personnel when the future of the hospital was in doubt and to fight for the future of their
local hospital.

To hold fund raising events

The Friends use monies from bequests/donations/events and membership to enhance local Health Care.

We meet bi-monthly in the hospital.  A nineteen person committee which includes Matron and representatives

of local charities, the council rep and local organisations. Requests are discussed from staff as are

changes in the services.  We would welcome any interest from Members of the Public who would like to join us.

The future looks bright as long as we can rely on the continued support of the people of Fleet and

surrounding areas.
